Compare Dalcroze, Kodaly, Suzuki: best methods for dyslexic singers
2014
I trained from an early age to become a classical singer. I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music after gaining my BA and went on to tour and sang professionally both in the UK and internationally.
I am a professional soprano, singing teacher and researcher, specialising in bel canto and teaching music to those with neurodiversity. I gained my PhD in music and dyslexia in 2018 from the University of Edinburgh and give lectures, masterclasses and talks in UK and Scandinavia (particularly Norway). My Fellowship looked at differing methods of teaching music to try to aid singers with dyslexia.
I have worked with Ben Zander of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and I have sung as soloist with various orchestras and conductors. My most notable performances are: solo performance for the King and Queen of Norway, BBC Masterclass Series, Norwegian television Bergen, BBC World News, recital and soloist with the Northern Sinfonietta at Bamburgh Castle. I have worked as a singing coach for several years in both the UK and Norway.
Recently I have been working for the Trinity Exam Board and Falmouth University with Jon Hargreaves.
