Biography
The UK ranks as one of the lowest of 14 European countries for 'nature connectedness' and wellbeing. It subsequently also faces huge species loss and a biodiversity crisis, ranking lowest for biodiversity across Europe. The UK also has unequal access to greenspace, with socio-economic barriers rapidly increasing.
My fellowship takes me to the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Portugal - all high-ranking countries for nature connectedness. The research will include visits to projects within urban and rural settings, which have high cultural engagement, nature connectedness, rich biodiversity and with good green infrastructure. The fellowship will enable me to collect case studies of best practice to inform future work, and support the sector to design and facilitate cultural projects which aim to equalise nature connection and access for all.
My professional practice focuses on nature connection, people's relation to place and equalising access and rights to and for nature. Recent projects have included the Green Futures Programme for City of Culture 2021, Garden Organic and The Clearing at Compton Verney. I've recently joined the National Trust as Public Engagement Producer.
