Biography
I currently work as an artist, swimming instructor and access consultant.
The main topics of my Fellowship are fitness, self-defence, martial arts, disability, and women and girls. The purpose of my Fellowship is to research self-defence techniques for disabled women and girls, to learn how to adapt martial arts and self-defence classes for disabled students and, after completing my research in Jordan and Canada, to share the knowledge gained with instructors in the UK.
I am a disabled woman with an interest in self-defence and martial arts, but I have struggled to find inclusive sessions. I hope to create information packs and guides to enable teachers throughout the UK to adapt their sessions so that they can be inclusive for disabled women and to encourage more disability participation in martial arts and self-defence in the UK.
