I have a portfolio career as a lead employer medical director, consultant in children's emergency medicine, honorary professor (children's rights, law and advocacy), Non-Executive Director of M'Lop Tapang (an international non-governmental organization) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SicKids, a charity registered in England and Wales.
I have many years of national and international clinical and leadership experience and expertise. This includes several years in non-executive board-level director roles in multimillion-euro and multimillion-dollar organisations.
My Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree was in children's rights, law and advocacy, and explored building child-safe communities with children and young people at their hearts. I have clinical and research interests in the development of early warning systems in emergency medicine, safeguarding vulnerable people and promoting children's rights.
My Fellowship was associated with key policy and legislative changes to better protect children and young people. Further detail is available in my five-year follow-up report, Life on the Tracks, and in my PhD thesis.
