Biography
I am an educational practitioner, teacher and consultant. My Fellowship project will focus on qualifications, accreditation and assessment systems. I am interested in learning more about organisations in the USA and Australia that have created accreditation systems which are being used to provide students with the same opportunities as standardised qualifications. Creating alternative forms of assessment can enable the validation of more complex competencies, evidence achievements and ongoing personal development and give more autonomy to curriculum design.
I will be exploring the following areas: the initiation and implementation of these assessment systems; how moderation and validation is conducted in a way that ensures accreditation holds an equivalent value to standardised qualifications; the overall impact on curriculums and pedagogical approaches; and the potential scalability of these systems in the UK.
I hope that my findings may inform the UK's current understanding of assessment systems and further support dialogue and debate around utilising a system that supports all stakeholders.
