Biography
I am a Principal City Planner, working on developing transport strategies and policies at Transport for London. I have worked in various roles at TfL progressing strategic outcomes on behalf of the Mayor. Before this, I completed a degree in human geography.
The purpose of my Fellowship is to learn from cities in Japan and Germany about successful approaches they have taken to enable families with young children to travel sustainably and reduce their private car use. I want to learn about this because transport is the largest emitting sector, accounting for around a quarter of the UK's total carbon emissions. Reducing private car use is key to decarbonising, but a key trigger for buying a car is starting a family.
I'm passionate about this issue because it combines a huge environmental challenge with a social challenge around how we design cities and transport better so everyone can make sustainable choices. I hope to apply my Fellowship findings to transport policies and plans for London, and start a conversation across the UK about improving sustainable transport options for families, enabling more to live car-free.
