With a First-Class degree in Geography, I have always been interested in the wider world and the environment particularly. I was fortunate to have worked for the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) at the start of my career, which set in process a path of international experience. It was during my time with the RGS that I undertook my Fellowship as part of a scientific research project in the rainforests of Brunei.

I subsequently continued to work in the realm of tropical forestry which took me to many parts of the world, including a stay in Japan. On returning to the UK, I worked for forestry in Scotland on an initiative to promote the interconnectedness of the range of forest industries. I then returned to student life for a year to do a Masters in Environmental Studies, which provided a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge. I have since been working in renewable energy and am currently a consultant for a firm of land agents dealing with windfarms in Scotland.

My Fellowship set me up for understanding so much better the forests of the world and the many peoples who depend on them, giving me a global perspective on environmental issues.
