Biography
I am a senior research fellow at Bangor University, specialising in health inequalities, violence against women and girls, and health and social care economics. My Fellowship focuses on compassionate healthcare for women who have experienced sexual violence and abuse, with particular attention to improving access to preventative cervical screening care.
The aim is to learn from leading international approaches in Sweden and Canada that support women who have experienced sexual violence and abuse to access compassionate care. Through engagement with researchers, practitioners and policymakers, I will explore how healthcare systems can provide compassionate care that improves health and wellbeing outcomes.
I describe myself as a 'pracademic' as I am very much a social worker, social care economist and an activist for positive change for women. I hope to identify and share international best practice in compassionate healthcare to shape policy, improve service delivery, and strengthen health outcomes for women.
