The mental health crisis, social prescribing and reducing suicide
Working to reduce the number of suicides in the UK by improved services.

South West
My focus is ENTIRELY on improving practical suicide prevention in the UK. I was previously Chief Executive of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and had a career working with children and young people in health and social care. I now work part time.
The focus of my Fellowship will be on those who attempt suicide and those who work with them. I am a Samaritan and previously completed a doctorate on those discharged from mental hospitals into the community.
As a result of looking at practice in Sweden, I hope to help Samaritans to improve responses to suicide and to bring social prescribing into the armoury of signposting tools, to assist those contemplating suicide.
