Fellow’s Profile
Innovating cancer support services with dance and movement
Delivering training programmes using dance to support cancer patients
2020
I design, implement and artistically lead original dance projects. I have worked within participatory dance for over a decade, facilitating countless dance experiences and creating many opportunities for dance engagement.
In 2016 I founded Move Dance Feel, a community interest company offering dance to women affected by cancer, and I work in partnership with leading cancer support centres to incorporate dance into their care programmes. I am also a Dance for Health committee member for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, and as a specialist in this field I am regularly invited to present my research findings nationally and internationally.
The purpose of my Fellowship is to further explore the rehabilitative potential of dance in cancer care – connecting with other specialists in dance, health and exercise and with cancer specialists worldwide – and to use my findings to inform a new training programme in the UK for professionals working in both the dance and the health sectors.
