I am a senior policy and advocacy officer at the British Red Cross, specialising in health inequalities. Previously, I worked at St Mungo's homelessness charity, with a particular focus on health and non-UK migrant policy.
The topics my Fellowship will focus on are health inequalities, digital exclusion, and refugees' and asylum seekers' access to healthcare. I will seek out and document examples where refugees and asylum seekers have been supported to access online healthcare in Greece and Canada. Through doing so, I hope to help the UK learn from and adopt the policies and practices which have made this possible.
While we may have some of the solutions (although I hope to learn about more), being equipped with first-hand evidence on how best to enact solutions, the barriers faced and, crucially, the impact that they have had, is critical to implementation. Importantly, as services increasingly move online, it is vital that people are not left without access.
