Biography
During my Fellowship I will be researching collaborative admissions and student support systems in higher education, with a particular focus on how a system could be introduced in England to improve university outcomes for care experienced students.
My interest in this is grounded in experience of working directly with students on the LMH Foundation Year at the University of Oxford and later working in policy at the Office for Students where I was responsible for developing the Equality of Opportunity Risk Register and for assessing the access, admissions and support measures that universities have in place for students. Through these two roles I've gained an understanding of the barriers that care experienced students face in HE and the challenge of implementing effective support at individual institutions.
By researching successful collaborative student admissions and support systems in both Ireland and the USA I hope to understand how they were introduced across the sector, with a view to developing a similar scheme in England.
