Biography
Even the most sophisticated solutions will fail if they are not well adopted, but when sustainability becomes commonplace it can create incredible results. We are now at a turning point. The UK has ambitious targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce waste by transitioning to a more circular economy. New systems are being introduced and success will rely on widespread participation, but this has been a major challenge to date.
During my Fellowship I will learn from circular economy systems in South Korea and Japan where high performance is underpinned by extremely high levels of participation. This will provide new approaches and insight for similar challenges in the UK.
In my role as a Director at Resource Futures, I have supported governments, businesses and NGOs to manage resources more sustainably and tackle pollution. The UK is committed to much further action and this Fellowship will help us understand what to do and, just as importantly, how to do it well.
