Biography

I am a consultant allied health professional working in the Public Health Agency, Northern Ireland. I have worked since 1988 in the NHS, for many of those years directly involved with Northern Ireland's communities facing challenges due to legacy conflict and deprivation. I have been inspired by significant changes made throughout these years but I believe we can still do more as a country to address our widening health inequalities.

I am passionate about the potential of allied health professionals to reduce this gap and by new ways of working to improve health and wellbeing in our communities. I want to meet those health professionals who have brought about change that has reduced health inequalities in their own country. I want to hear directly from the people who have been impacted by this change. I want to learn from these personal stories, share the learning with leaders, policymakers and communities across Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, and build international networks to inspire and develop sustainable change that minimises health inequalities here.

'Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane' (attributed to Martin Luther King).
