Biography

I'm Head of AI Security Policy at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

My Fellowship will explore how policy and law can be used to prevent increasingly prevalent harmful 'AI companionship' - where people develop problematic emotional bonds with conversational AI services, often at the cost of their mental health, relationships, and financial savings, and sometimes even their lives.

I'm excited to explore how governments across the USA, Australia, Europe and Brazil are acting to tackle these issues. I'll see if and how their approaches can translate to the UK, in the form of stronger AI safety laws, expert partnerships, or initiatives to support to victims.
