An integrated approach on returning to education following a crisis
Developing a toolkit to support young people re-entering education after mental health crises

I am the Director of Mental Health and Wellbeing at Reigate College. I am interested in the impact that mental health can have on a young person's education. My Fellowship focuses on developing an integrated model to help young people successfully return to education after a significant crisis. Some young people significantly self-harm or make suicide attempts and won't engage with support. These young people are then returned to education without a clear structure or pathway of care in place. The model for returning to education is key to providing support for young people, preventing further crises and empowering teachers to feel confident in managing this high-level risk.
For me, the Fellowship is an exciting opportunity to further and adapt a model to implement into a wider setting and make a difference.
