Biography

I work as a painter and sculptor and have exhibited widely in the UK. Recently, my drawing books – some 150 and counting – which had accumulated over many years became part of the Morrab Library Penzance where they can be viewed on request.

My Fellowship was in 1993, allowing me to visit West Africa to study African figurative carving. I spent three months travelling through Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Burkina Faso – a memorable journey that confirmed my love of African art and consolidated and opened up further avenues of study for me. I have lived in Amsterdam, Venice, Rome and Oxford and am now based in Penzance, where I both live and have my workshop and studio.

Over the years I have taught sculpture and drawing at foundation and degree level on a part-time basis and I now give talks on the origins of Modernism. My website gives some idea of my subject and the feel of my work as an image worker and part of the Modernist tradition.
