Dementia and Montessori: fostering independence
Applying the Montessori method to dementia care to prolong individual independence

I work as an activities co-ordinator in a nursing home in Torquay. My Fellowship project was on using Montessori methods in a dementia care setting. I am also fortunate to be working with another Fellow on our intergenerational project. The Fellowship project won The Nursery World Award for Inclusive Practice.
Since my travels, I have worked hard to implement my findings in the care setting and to bring awareness to the care sector as a whole. I am working on a workshop to present to care homes around the country.
My Fellowship has inspired me to change the way our care homes provide care to our elderly with dementia.
