Biography
I work at the intersection of sport, health and community development, helping to create opportunities for people to live healthier and happier lives. I have worked across local government, football, charities and city partnerships, leading programmes that improve health, reduce inequalities and strengthen communities. My work has included everything from coaching and rehabilitation programmes to developing major projects with the NHS, Sport England and local partners.
My Fellowship will explore how communities in Canada use sport, physical activity and local partnerships to support lifelong health and wellbeing. I want to learn how different places make active living a normal part of everyday life and how health, recreation and community organisations work together to create lasting change.
Growing up on a council estate, I saw how unequal access to opportunities can affect health and life chances. That experience continues to drive my work and my belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy, active and fulfilling life. I believe sport is one of the most powerful tools we have to create positive social change.
