Biography

I am an independent consultant specialising in cultural strategy, policy, funding and evaluation, and a trustee of Deveron Projects in Scotland. My Fellowship focuses on strengthening citizen-led cultural governance in the UK, exploring how communities can play a meaningful role in shaping public spaces, cultural programmes and decision-making.

I aim to explore Indigenous and citizen-led cultural governance in Australia, learning from Indigenous-led cultural organisations, First Nations advisory board members of national cultural institutions, and community governance models to support advocacy for more representative and citizen-led approaches. Motivated by a career spanning arts and culture, international development and place-based regeneration, I have seen how decisions made by a privileged few can limit relevance, trust and impact.

My Fellowship is driven by a commitment to cultural democracy and to embedding citizen-led approaches that give communities real influence over their cultural futures. I hope to help shift power, diversify who gets to decide, and strengthen the social impact, legitimacy and vibrancy of the UK's cultural landscape.
