Biography
I am a senior fire officer with the London Fire Brigade and have worked in the UK Fire and Rescue Service for many years. Alongside my core role, I am a national tactical advisor for Urban Search and Rescue, hold an MSc in Disaster and Crisis Management and I am a Fellow of both the Institute of Search and Technical Rescue (InSTR) and the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (ICPEM).
My Fellowship project, No One Left Behind, will explore how Japan, the USA, Sweden and Germany prepare for and respond to the evacuation of bariatric people during major incidents and disasters. The project builds on my master's research in disaster and crisis management, which highlighted significant gaps in planning response and rescue for this often overlooked community.
As disasters become more frequent and complex, I am passionate about ensuring that dignity, inclusion and safety are considered for everyone. I hope to learn from international best practice and to develop national guidance that supports responders, strengthens community resilience and ensures no one is left behind in an emergency.
