Biography
I am a curator, commissioner and cultural producer. I have held posts across various UK galleries and museums including Firstsite, Institute of Contemporary Arts, Kettle's Yard and Tate. I began curating in hospitals in 2019. I am currently Deputy Arts Manager at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where I am responsible for commissions, partnerships and creative delivery of their capital arts and user engagement programmes.
I am interested in the hospital as a civic building and cultural space and how, as a curator, I can facilitate meaningful experiences and exchanges for its community. Using the hospital as an example, I wish to explore the role that public art and creative commissioning can play in civic engagement.
I will be travelling to France and the USA to visit hospitals, public spaces and services, as well as community organisations, to explore pioneering approaches to public art commissioning. I am particularly interested in looking at different 'tried and tested' commissioning methodologies, as well as programmes which embed artists actively in society, providing creative solutions for communities.
