Biography
In my current role I manage a digital transformation project for the environment sector in Northern Ireland. It is a fascinating project, working at the intersection of the environment and IT sectors, seeking to embrace the opportunities and efficiencies that technology can bring to promote environmental education and action. Outside of work, I am a director of the Northern Cricket Union of Ireland and am heavily involved in my local cricket club, as well as spending time playing a wide variety of other sports and keeping active outdoors.
All aspects of society are going to be heavily impacted by climate change, and the sports sector is no exception. Sport is a powerful vehicle for change; if we can harness the power of sporting communities and encourage and empower those involved in sport, whether players, fans, local clubs or governing bodies, to take action, we can effect widespread positive change for the environment and wider sustainability of our communities and societies.
I want to build a bank of practical examples and realisable projects and initiatives that sporting communities in the UK can use to start or strengthen their sustainability journeys.
