I have spent over five years building political support across the UK for bold climate and nature action. As Senior Political Adviser at Uplift, I lead the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change (Climate APPG) supporting cross-party MPs and peers in championing a just transition away from oil and gas production. I have supported UK parliamentarians in opposing the development of Rosebank, the UK's largest undeveloped oil field, as well as successfully blocking the Offshore Petroleum Licensing Bill from becoming law and encouraging the UK Government to raise ambition at COP28.
My Fellowship will explore the energy transitions in Denmark and Colombia, two countries who are both members of the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance working to facilitate a managed phase-out of oil and gas production.
I intend to use the insights from my Fellowship to further support UK policymakers in accelerating a just transition away from fossil fuels. This is necessary not just for a safe planet but for securing UK energy affordability and independence too.
