Biography
From the NHS to the voluntary sector and now as a Community Partnership Worker at Birmingham City Council, my efforts continue to develop accessible and inclusive initiatives in this diverse city. I champion the integration of arts in health having participated in Erasmus projects which helped improve my own wellbeing. The use of culturally inspired arts and innovative teaching left me with a renewed sense of appreciation for how art can improve health. I believe the arts have a transformative power that can stimulate memory, foster emotional connection and improve wellbeing for people with dementia.
I will explore how organisations in Singapore and elsewhere are implementing creative arts to support people with dementia and how they are embedding culturally sensitive approaches which foster a sense of belonging.
Exchanging ideas and sharing best practices enhances service quality and delivery. Insights into innovative diverse perspectives can improve practices and refresh our vision in the field of creative arts and dementia care. This is a chance to effect change and my insights will help inform funding culturally relevant arts projects within dementia care locally.
