Witnessing good practice in the field of suicide bereavement

I am the Managing Director and founder of Suicide Bereavement UK.
My Fellowship focused on suicide bereavement. I travelled to Australia and New Zealand to identify good practice caring for those bereaved by suicide. I lost my brother to suicide in 1990, and have subsequently specialised in suicide bereavement research for 20 years. I am recognised as an international expert in this field.
As a direct result of my Churchill Fellowship, I left the security of long-term employment to set up Suicide Bereavement UK, which specialises in suicide bereavement research, training and consultancy. The Fellowship has also enabled me to host an international suicide bereavement conference, and have developed face-to-face and online evidence-based suicide bereavement training, which are first of their kind internationally.
I have published four academic articles and delivered 70 presentations (including at Westminster), and have been interviewed on TV and radio and for newspapers. I also led the largest suicide bereavement survey internationally, in which 7,158 people participated. This was a collaboration between the University of Manchester and the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP). My work addresses a government priority on many levels.
