Biography

Tony joined the Royal Marines in 1978 and was medically discharged in 1981. A qualified Social Worker, Probation Officer and Home Office Adviser, Tony created About Turn CIC in 2009 to support veterans involved with the Criminal Justice System. Following his 2011 Fellowship, Tony focused on supporting combat veterans who had difficulty accessing trauma-informed care and support, establishing Forward Assist in 2013 and Salute Her UK in 2021.

Over the last five years he has been particularly supportive of veterans who have survived Military Sexual Assault and suffer from Moral Injury, Post Traumatic Stress and Military Sexual Trauma. Tony describes himself as a political activist, campaigner and agent of change.

Tony Wright (CF 2011), Founder and CEO of Forward Assist has reported that The Company of Communicators’ 2023 Clarity in Charity in Communications Award has been won by Forward Assist for its campaigns raising the profile of women veterans’ and their struggle against sexual harassment and bullying in the military.
