As a parent-infant psychotherapist I work with babies and their caregivers from pregnancy to age two. I travelled to Czechia, Sweden, Norway and the USA to learn from best practice in parent-infant psychotherapy (PIP).

I learned about the historical development of PIP within the context of the nation, the different methods of delivery and tools and measures used in practice, the training and professional development of the workforce and how parent-infant teams are supported to manage the trauma of the work.

Since my travels I have set up Au Milieu, a community interest company that provides training and clinical practice in PIP. At Au Milieu, we keep the baby central, and we value quality relationships in our learning and practice. My aim is to see a new generation of therapists that are equipped to work safely with the delicate infant-parent relationship – able to work in the midst of families to demonstrate how to give the baby a voice and to break the harmful cycle of trauma caused by adverse experiences.

I see this work not only in the moment but for future generations. My Fellowship was the start of this life-changing journey for me and for many families.
